2010 DIET SOLUTION FOR DRY AND BRITTLE HAIR
Sometimes your hair can be dry and brittle, no matter what you do. If you find that you pile on the conditioner, hair masks, and anything else that is supposed to help moisturize your hair and it still is dry and brittle, you need more essential fatty acids in your diet. Your hair is part of you, and just like the rest of your body, it needs the proper nutrients to be healthy and shiny.

Fatty acids can be found in a variety of foods – fish such as tuna, trout, salmon, herring, and sardines. Olives, avocados, nuts, and seeds are also good sources of essential fatty acids. For your hair, you should try and eat 4 servings of one of these fish every week, but if you’re worried about mercury or just don’t like fish, you can always take a fish oil supplement. Another great way to add these fats to your diet is to add pumpkin or flax seeds (or flax seed oil) to your morning cereal.
Another nutrient that you hair needs is silica. Silica is a trace mineral that stops hair from breaking and keeps it strong. Because of all the processing foods go through, we don’t get enough of it so eat organically if you can. Try to eat rice, oats, lettuce, strawberries, cabbage, leeks, parsnips, green leafy veggies, and sunflower seeds. This is just a partial list. A great diet will really help your hair. Remember to drink at least 2 liters of water every day to keep your body and your hair hydrated!
